It's been a while!

So I've been taking a break from all this TTC blogging, but I'm back and ready to go. A few updates have happened in our TTC journey since my past post, so I'll try to catch up without rambling. In the beginning of January, Chris got a new job with FANTASTIC insurance... including IF coverage! My insurance didn't have anything for IF, not even diagnostics. Sooo, we did the obvious and switched to his. It kicked in on March 21st and we had our first IF appointment on the 25th. They took a few cultures from me and then did an internal ultrasound (fun!) to get a better idea of what my ovaries and ute are looking like. Everything looked "normally abnormal" as far as women with PCOS goes. We spent a while talking with Dr. Luciano and I'm happy to announce that we officially have a plan!!!
Here's what it consists of.......
  • continue taking Metformin and prenatals
  • take Prometrium for 14 days to induce a period
  • on day 3 after AF starts, I need to go for fasting bloodwork - the same day, Chris will drop off his swimmers for a SA.
  • go back for a follow up visit to go over test results 8 - 10 days after AF started
  • if AF is over at that appointment, I'll have a procedure done to see if my tubes are clear. It's not a hysterosalpingogram (HSG), but very similar. It's called a high-contrast "something" and uses an ultrasound instead of an x-ray to see what's going on.
  • if my tubes are clear then he'll write another Rx for Prometrium
  • I'll start Clomid on that cycle and hopefully that'll be all we need
  • if the Clomid doesn't work after 3-4 months, we will move on to other interventions

I'm so excited to finally be able to move forward with an actual plan and not just hope and pray that we'll get preg on our own.

Ohhh, and just a sidenote...we got a Puppy!!! His name is Maxwell. He's 16 weeks old now. Here's a few pics.....

Good Luck!! ::fingers crossed for 2010:: Maxwell is sooo cute! Is he a yorkie, mini yorkie or teacup yorkie? I used to have teacup - LOVED her!! They're such good dogs, a little fresh but adorable!

Thanks Malissa! Yeah, he's definately a freshy. I had a teacup Yorkie for 15 years, she was the sweetest thing, but stubborn. Maxwell is actually a Yorkie/Silky Terrier mix. Apparently they are called Silkshire Terriers.
